The Genieve Shelter and Blakey Weaver Counseling Center Inc will host a Summer Youth Trauma Support Program. Open to children 6-17 who may have experienced trauma. The Program will be held on select dates between June 27 & August 29 from 2-4 pm at The Salvation Army Corps & Community Center of Suffolk at 400 Bank St.

Anyone interested in registering for the program can do so in person on Wednesday, June 15th at The Salvation Army Suffolk Corps & Community Center.

How to text 911:

  1. On your mobile device, enter the numbers "911" in the "To" or "Recipient" field of a new text message...
  2. The first text to 911 should be short and include the location of the emergency, and ask for the police, fire, or ambulance...
  3. Press the "Send" button
  4. Answer questions and follow instructions from the 911 call taker

How to use hand signal:

  2. When virtually talking with a friend, social worker, case manager, doctor, etc. you can use the signal to non-verbally ask for help
  3. The person seeing the symbol should then ask you yes or no questions to get you the best help you need (Ex. Would you like me to call 911? Do you need me to call a shelter and look into services for you?)
